What this site is, and how it's built
The Case to Wait is an independent educational project. We aim to raise the issues and perspective that usually gets left out of the discussion.
- An advocacy site, openly. It argues that non-therapeutic infant circumcision should wait until the person it's about can decide for himself.
- We aim to show the data as it is, often we are using the same data as people on the other side use. For example: we just point out the absolute risk is small, even if the relative risk percentage is large.
- Not medical advice. Nothing here can examine your son, take his history, or replace an actual doctor. See a doctor for individual medical decisions.
- This is meant to give to start a discussion of points usually left out of the conversation.
- Not aimed at religious practice. The argument here is about the non-therapeutic, non-religious version of this decision.
How claims get made on this site
Where possible, a claim is sourced to the primary study or document it's about, not a summary of a summary. Where a number is derived or approximated rather than stated directly by the source (an absolute-risk conversion from an odds ratio, for instance), the page says so.
We try to exclude sources with financial or cultural bias.
If we have an error we would like to know about it and correct it immediately..
An independent project, not a byline
This site is run as an independent educational project rather than under an individual byline. We have no financial stake in pushing for one side or another, and we recommend considering if other sources do.
